ALERT: Urge VETO on SB 219

Bad Bill Fast-tracking to Gov. DeWine!

Urge VETO on “Sub. SB 219 – Revise the Law Governing Oil and Gas Wells.”

What it does:
SB 219 would drastically speed up every step in the process of leasing Ohio state parks and public lands for oil and gas extraction, putting hard deadlines for agencies to act on nominations, bids, leases, and permits. It removes ODNR discretion to regulate oil and gas operations in several areas, such as requiring them to expedite permits, and it hands companies longer leases with more time to pay and fewer consequences.

What’s new:
SB 219 was voted out of the Senate Energy Committee on 11/19/26. A substitute version passed in the full Senate along party lines the same day. A substitute version was reported out of the House Natural Resources Committee on 6/3/26, and passed the full House the same day along party lines. Sub. SB 219 was sent to the governor’s desk on 6/12/26.

What to do:
* Email Gov. DeWine and urge him to veto Sub. SB 219!
