House Extends TPS for Haitians

Temporary Protected Status Extended, Round One!

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. House of Representatives voted 224-204 on Thursday to reinstate temporary protected status for roughly 350,000 Haitian nationals living in the United States, a rebuke of the Trump administration’s immigration policies that carries particular significance for communities like Springfield, Ohio.

Two of the 10 Republicans who sided with Democrats to pass the legislation are from Ohio: Mike Turner of Dayton and Mike Carey of Columbus, whose districts include the Springfield area.

This Cleveland Com article notes that the Senate and POTUS signature remain to complete the good news. Stay tuned for an alert to call/write Senators Moreno and Husted. Husted, in particular, may be interested in gaining from support for this one!
