Mike Thompson with a Bi-Partisan Panel of Experts
WOSU, a PBS affiliate, has long been known for balanced insights. If you've lost the habit of tuning in, try this half hour to get back in the swing of things. "On The Record" examines issues of high interest every week. This last broadcast before Tuesday's election looks at the governor and US senate races against the backdrop of recent trends and polls. And then takes a short look at some of the down-ballot races of interest.
Of high concern may be Jennifer Brunner's race for Ohio Supreme Court. Brunner is the only Democrat currently on the court. An incumbent of several years, she lost her bid to follow Maureen O'Donnell as Chief Justice 2 years ago. The age limit for this Ohio court is 70, however if elected before turning 70, justices may finish their 6-year term. If not re-elected this year, Brunner will lose the opportunity to serve that last term, and the Court will be 7-0 Republican!
As noted in the WOSU broadcast, some important cases are coming before the Court, including the suit against private school vouchers, filed by a plaintiffs' roster of over 300 Ohio school districts!
