Le Regard Américain - Fundraiser & Photography Exhibition

Paris has always seduced American photographers. This September, Ithaque Gallery — one of the Marais' finest black-and-white photography spaces — becomes the setting for Le Regard Américain, a landmark group exhibition featuring American photographers who chose Paris, stayed, and have spent their careers looking at this city from the inside out.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
We invited celebrated and emerging American photographers living in France to donate framed, exhibition-quality works for a silent auction. Our confirmed lineup includes Ralph Gibson — one of the most influential American photographers of the last half century — and French-American photojournalist Peter Turnley, whose work has taken him to over 90 countries, alongside newly discovered talent based in Paris.
All proceeds fund voter registration, outreach, and mobilization ahead of the 2026 primaries and general election. The overseas American vote has decided races in Georgia, Wisconsin, and Arizona. This is where that work happens.

Attend opening night on September 9th, 6pm – 9pm at Ithaque Gallery. Your ticket includes a glass of wine and full access to the exhibition and silent auction. 
🍾 Host Committee: $250
Join our Host Committee and help make this event possible. Host Committee members receive:
• Small, private champagne reception with participating photographers and early gallery access at 5pm, before general admission
• 4 tickets
• First bidding access on the GalaBid silent auction app
• Name acknowledged in the official event program and all exhibition materials
• Recognition on the Democrats Abroad Paris website and social media

Can't make it to Paris? You can still be part of the evening. All ticket holders — wherever they are in France or around the world — can join via Zoom and bid on works through the GalaBid app in real time. Details and links sent upon registration. 

OUR CURATOR & GALLERY
Le Regard Américain will be held at Ithaque Gallery, founded by French-Swiss photographer Alexandre Arminjon, whose work has been exhibited at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the French National Assembly. Alexandre serves as our curatorial partner, overseeing all framing, hanging, and installation.
