Minutes for the Annual General Meeting and Election

March 29, 2023

 

Minutes taken by Tiffany Jackson-Zunker, Nominations and Elections Committee Chair, because there was no elected Secretary serving at the time of the meeting.

Prepared agenda for the meeting:

  1. Approval of the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting
  2. Report from the Chair for the preceding year
  3. Treasurer’s Report on accounts for the period March 2022 – March 2023
  4. Results Announcement for the new Executive Committee and 3x DPCA Voting Representatives (for the period 2023 – 2025)
  5. Consideration of other matters as may properly come before the meeting

17:30 SAST Bradley Jackson notes lack of quorum and announces proceedings will begin in 30 minutes per the quorum procedures.

 

18:00 SAST Bradley Jackson reconvenes the meeting online.  Secretary notes there are 7 DASA members and one participant from the Democrats Abroad Regional office in attendance.

 

Minutes of the 15 March 2022 DASA AGM were presented and approved.

 

18:05 SAST Bradley Jackson presents the Chair’s report for 2022 noting various highlights over the course of the last year including: revisions to the DASA bylaws regarding DPCA Representation; efforts for GOTV; and bringing the country committee into full compliance.

 

Bradley Jackson presented the state of the DASA fiscus in lieu of a formal Treasurer’s report (no serving Treasurer at the time of the AGM): ZAR 1345 in the bank from 2021 fund raising drive available for incoming ExCo.

 

18:15 SAST Tiffany Jackson-Zunker introduced as the Chair of the NEC for the 2023 officer elections and announces the results of the elections for DASA officers on behalf of the NEC:

            DASA Chairperson for 2023-2025 will be Elizabeth O’Leary

            DASA Member-At-Large for 2023-2025 will be Courtney Jeanpierre

 

Total Ballots Received: 23
Ballots verified: (DASA members & E-signature at bottom): 22 – 1 spoiled ballot

Candidates:

  • Chair: Elizabeth O’Leary 22 Votes (100%)
  • Member-at-Large: Courtney Jeanpierre 20 Votes (91%)

 

All vacant positions on the executive committee were announced and Courtney Jeanpierre put their name forth for the position of Voting Representative. A ballot link was circulated during the meeting and Courtney was elected to the position with 100% of attending members voting.

 

18:20 SAST      Incoming Chairperson Elizabeth O’Leary and incoming Member-at-Large Courtney Jeanpierre give welcoming remarks to attending members.

 

18:28 SAST      NEC Chair announces results of live ballot, Courtney Jeanpierre is announced as a DPCA Voting Representative.

 

18:30 SAST Chair opens the meeting for comments from the attending members. Elizabeth O’Leary thanked outgoing Chairperson Bradley Jackson, outgoing Executive Committee members and DASA volunteers for their service to the organization and thanked EMEA Regional Vice Chair Jen Rakow-Stepper for her ongoing support.

 

18:32 SAST      No additional matters were raised, and the meeting was adjourned without objection.
