Varian Fry Tour

On Friday, 16 June, the Aix-Marseille Chapter will sponsor a Varian Fry tour! The tour is open to members, their friends, and anyone else interested in coming with us!

NOTE: There will be a limit of 20 people for the tour; so please sign up ASAP! And, if you plan on coming, the tour guides suggest that you read through this site before the tour: l'Association Varian Fry France.

Jean-Michel Guiraud, President of the French Varian Fry Society, will meet us at 10h00 at 31 Boulevard Athenes, in front of the CANOPE building (see the map below). The tour will take around two hours and will visit the following sites related to Fry’s life and work in Marseille (not necessarily in this order):

The Canope (the former Hotel Splendide)
The site of the former American Relief Center on Rue Grignan
The Vieux Port/Cours Ballard
Rue Beauvau (where the Hotel Beauvau was)
Boulevard Garibaldi
Lycee Montgrand (the former US Consulate location)
Place Varian Fry (in front of the current US Consulate)
