Live Event Reception and Program

In person at Diasporâs (2ème):

  • Ricki Stevenson (founder/CEO of Black Paris Tours) will examine how Project 2025 seeks to discriminate against small businesses owned by women and people of color.
  • Jake Lamar (author of seven novels, including the recently released prize-winning Viper's Dream) will give us perspective on how we got to this stage in our country’s history.
  • Horace Small (founder/executive director of The Union of Minority Neighborhoods) will inspire us to get involved in resisting Project 2025.

Also joining us via Zoom from New York:

  • Melba Tolliver (first African-American news anchor hired at WABC NEWS in 1967 and author of recently released Accidental Anchorwoman: A Memoir of Chance, Choice, Change, and Connection) will analyze the lack of media coverage of Project 2025.
  • Felipe Luciano (former member of The Last Poets spoken word group and a
founder of The Young Lords, a group of Puerto Rican social justice activists) will incite us to unite across communities to fight this menace.

The event will be moderated by Audrey Edwards, former Essence magazine editor and author of American Runaway: Black and Free in Paris in the Trump Years.
