Candidate statements

Candidate(s) for Chapter Chair

Robert B. Cassidy

In these chaotic times of political polarization, climate change, and income inequality, I am committed to working as a team to create and maintain a growing community of Americans supporting the Democratic Party and electing Democratic candidates in the United States. I have been a member of the Montpellier Chapter of DemsAbroad, France for two years.  Prior to retirement from 33 years of government service, I was an Assistant US Trade Representative in the Executive Office of the President, responsible for trade negotiations with China and with other Asian countries.  I have since been active in local government affairs and in the Democratic Party.  I have been a board member of LGBT organizations and have served as precinct captain in the Fort Lauderdale area of Florida.  In that capacity I have worked with Democratic candidates for office in neighborhood canvassing, telephone banking, and voter registration.

Candidate(s) for Secretary

Stacey Rouse Krückel

My name is Stacey Krückel, and I have been active in Democrats Abroad for 7 years, first in the Frankfurt, Germany chapter, where I served on the global DA Comms team, helping to manage the global Facebook page, and most recently, as part of DAs Montpellier chapter, where I also manage DAs global LinkedIn page. I vote in New York state.

Like many Americans, I read the news every day about the state of our country and I am alarmed and want to take action to resist the current administration and protect the values that I hold dear—equality, inclusion, fairness, empathy and compassion.

I am running for Montpellier chapter Secretary because I firmly believe in the platform of the Democratic party: Democrats believe that the economy should work for everyone, health care is a right, our diversity is our strength, and democracy is worth defending.”  I am committed to doing all that I can to help Americans overseas retain and exercise our right to vote, and to help ensure that we live in a world where Democratic values and principles guide US policy.

Candidate(s) for Membership and Volunteer Coordinator

Jennifer Hodge Jerzyk

I nominate myself to run for the office of Membership and Volunteer Coordinator for the Montpellier Chapter of DemsAbroad France.  I have been a chapter member for two years and worked many hours to identify and recruit new members to our chapter.  I view growing our chapter membership as our Number 1 purpose and take seriously the role of meeting, greeting and encouraging Americans who live in this chapter jurisdiction to join DemsAbroad France. I look forward to continuing to be a vital part of the chapter team.

Candidate(s) for Members at Large (in alphabetical order)

Lynn Sanborne

I am pleased to stand for the position of Member at Large for Montpellier DA.

I have already been serving this function over the past two years via responsibilities such as: recruiting and welcoming new members and helping to formulate and “market” special programs. This is in addition to regularly attending events, including postcard writing parties, “womaning” an information table in central Montpellier, etc. My professional background includes: outreach, marketing and public relations for nonprofits. I have also volunteered with multiple political campaigns in the US. It’s been very rewarding to be a part of this dynamic and growing chapter of Democrats Abroad–the challenge is great and we are ready.

Anna Tyberg

Having served two terms as chair of the Montpellier chapter, I am gratified to know that we will soon have new leadership. Fresh perspectives and ideas are crucial if we are to continue to grow and find new ways to reach Americans in our region. I believe that the best way that I can continue to contribute is to run to be a Member-at-Large. In this capacity I can pass on my knowledge of how DA France works as well as volunteer wherever needed.
