posted by Max Dunitz | National Vice Chair, DA France (DPCA)
February 20, 2023The DA France Montpellier Election Board is pleased to announce the candidates for DAF Montpellier Chapter leadership!
Members of the DAF Montpellier Chapter area will receive a ballot by email. Voting will end at 3 pm on March 7, 2023. For questions, please contact the Montpellier Election Board at [email protected].
Candidates for Co-Chair
Anna Tyberg, Candidate for Co-Chair
I have served as the Montpellier chapter chair for two years now and have been a member since coming to Montpellier in 2018. Previous to moving to Europe I lived in Illinois for 20 years, from where I currently vote. While there I volunteered for Democratic candidates in every primary and general election since 2004. I look forward to working with a new leadership team to increase our young chapter’s visibility, bring in new members and ultimately get out the vote of Americans abroad. I am happy to continue attending DAF monthly ExComm and Chapter meetings and fulfilling other chair responsibilities and I welcome all ideas about activities or events that members would enjoy or find informative.
Kevin Erwin, Candidate for Co-Chair
As a resident of Montpellier, France for over ten years now and as an active Democratic voter for over 30 years in the states of California (current voting state), Washington and New York, I believe Anna and I would make a good pair for leading the Montpellier chapter of Democrats Abroad France. There are many dedicated members of this chapter and we welcome more and more American voters from abroad to the area every year, making it important for our chapter to remain visible and enticing with regular meet-ups, events and voter outreach programs. I look forward to working with the Montpellier chapter leadership team and our members.Candidates for Vice Chair
Angelique Voltaire-Behi, Candidate for Vice Chair
Thank you for this opportunity to run for Vice Chair. I have been a member of Democrats Abroad Montpellier since 2021. I am a US Citizen from Los Angeles California from where I currently vote. I am retired and I do plan to stay in Montpellier indefinitely. I have the luxury of time and I am able to devote my time to whatever is needed. As an expat I consider myself an overseas foot soldier for the Democratic Party. We make a critical difference in close elections and we demonstrate that every vote counts. I believe that Americans living abroad do play a significant role. My goal is to network with new expats living in Montpellier to increase our membership and assist them in voting by absentee ballot. In today’s political climate, one filled with distrust and apathy, we are on a mission to ensure representation and active participation for expats, which is more important than ever to secure our democracy. I believe we can reinvigorate faith in our party. I am excited to work together to empower all voters and better represent the party’s members who reside in Montpellier.
Candidates for GOTV Coordinator
Shamille Wrather. Candidate for GOTV Coordinator
As a Nebraskan who has lived in France for almost 14 years, I was happy to see Montpellier open its own Democrats Abroad chapter after moving back from Paris where I was an active member of DAF Paris and its Diversity Caucus in 2017-2018. Democrats can win more elections through organizing, and more specifically through voter outreach. Even though I'm far from home, I like the idea of being able to help get out the vote by registering newcomers and hopefully do a small part to advance the Democratic Party platform as GOTV Coordinator!
All members of the DAF Montpellier Chapter may vote in the leadership elections. The elections will be decided by a plurality of votes (the candidate who gets the most votes in the election wins). DAF does not accept proxy votes. The ballot includes a space for write-in candidates for all positions.
New members are welcome to join and vote. To join, click here: www.democratsabroad.org/join. You must be a US citizen 18 years of age or older by Nov. 7, 2023 and living in the Montpellier Chapter region. New members may join up until March 6, 2023, to vote in the election.

All members of Democrats Abroad France are welcome to attend and vote in the DA France National Officer and Voting Representative Elections on April 1. You will have an opportunity to hear from the candidates themselves prior to the close of voting and final tabulation of results. All members wanting to vote at the meeting are asked to register to vote by virtue of RSVP for this meeting, below, on or before March 30th -- this allows the DA France Election Board to prepare the voter rolls on the day of the meeting.
EARLY / ABSENTEE VOTING OPTION
All DA France members also have the option to vote early via an online absentee ballot made available to them via email, from 7 to 10 days prior to the election until 5PM on March 30th.
