Democrats Abroad - BC Mainland Chapter has planned all sorts of member engagement events leading up to the midterm elections. Here is what is coming up during the month of May (and little bit of June):
🍩 Donuts & Democracy - Squamish Edition
Join us on Saturday, May 16th at 9:30am for a round of Donuts & Democracy! We will be meeting at the Fox & Oak Cafe in Squamish. A little later, we will head to the Squamish Farmers Market to share Vote From Abroad info with potential voters. For more info and to RSVP, click here.
🍻 Pints & Politics in North Vancouver
Spring has sprung, so we are bringing back Pints & Politics! This time we will be getting together in North Vancouver on Friday, May 22nd around 4:00pm. We have not yet finalized the location, but will figure that out soon. RSVP here and join us for a good hang!
📚 Voter Assistance Training
We have had a great response from around the world to our Live-On-Zoom Voter Assistance training sessions. So we are holding more of them! Take a peek at our Events page for upcoming sessions.
We have scheduled a special In-Person Voter Assistance practice session this month. It will be on May 27th at 5:30pm at the Tap & Barrel at Canada Place. To attend this session, you must have passed the Module 1 Voter Assistance Quiz. You can RSVP here.

Democrats continue to win in Special Elections!
- New Jersey - Congratulations to Democrat Analilia Mejia who defeated Republican Joe Hathaway in the NJ 11th Congressional District special election.
- Michigan - Congratulations to Democrat Chedrick Greene for winning the State Senate 35th district special election over Republican Jason Tunney - this keeps Democrats in control of the State Senate.
🗳️ Upcoming Special Elections & Primaries
There is a lot happening in California over the next few weeks:
- May 18th - This is the deadline for making sure that you can vote in the California primaries. Go to VoteFromAbroad.org and get registered.
- June 2nd - This is both the date of the General California Primaries and the Special Election Primary for Congressional District 1.
- June 16th - Special Election Primary for Congressional District 14.
The month of May has primaries happening all over the US:
- May 12th - Nebraska, West Virginia
- May 16th - Louisiana
- May 19th - Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Oregon, Pennsylvania
