Democrats Abroad British Columbia Mainland (formerly Democrats Abroad Vancouver) is a chapter of Democrats Abroad Canada, the official country committee for U.S. Democrats living in Canada. We help U.S. citizens living in British Columbia register to vote and stay informed on key issues. Our active and engaged community spans the mainland of British Columbia, and we’re always looking for more volunteers to join us!
Get Involved
We need volunteers across mainland British Columbia to help with voter registration, organizing local meetups, and supporting Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts. Democrats Abroad is a 100% volunteer-run organization. Interested in joining us? Fill out our volunteer interest survey. We’d love to hear from you!

Across the Globe, thousands of volunteers are educating U.S. voters about their rights and helping them return their ballots in time to vote. This includes Canadians born in the U.S. and those born in Canada to American parents, who are also eligible to vote. U.S. citizens in Canada CAN and DO make a difference in close elections!
Register for Your Ballot
Visit VoteFromAbroad.org to register for your ballot today and make your voice heard. U.S. citizens abroad must do this every calendar year.
Returning Your Ballot
Depending on your state, you may be able to return your ballot by mail, fax, email, or online upload. For full details on how to return your ballot, including state-specific guidelines, please visit VoteFromAbroad.org FAQs.
Some tips on ballot return methods:
-
Email: Fast, free, and secure. Simply scan or photograph your completed ballot and send it to your Local Election Office as an email attachment. Always follow your state’s specific instructions for returning your ballot.
-
Fax: Some states allow ballot return by fax. You can use a public fax machine, an email-to-fax service, or the fax service through FVAP (Federal Voting Assistance Program).
-
Mail or Courier: You can return your ballot by mail or courier (DHL, FedEx, UPS). Make sure you meet your state’s postmark and delivery deadlines.
-
U.S. Embassy/Consulate Pouch: You may also use the diplomatic pouch at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate to return your ballot, though this option may take longer, so plan ahead.
UPS Discount for Members
To avoid the risk of your ballot being delayed, consider a courier. We have a UPS Discount for DemsAbroad Members. We have enrolled in the UPS Member Benefits Program, offering you up to 50% off published shipping rates on worldwide shipping. Take advantage of this ongoing benefit to ensure your ballot arrives on time. Click here for more details.
Courier Reminders:
- Do not ask for a signature on delivery. Election offices can’t sign for things.
- Couriers cannot deliver to P.O. boxes. If your election office has given you a P.O. box, please call and ask for their street address (they all have one!).
Events and News
Our chapter hosts a variety of events to bring the community together and stay engaged, including Democracy Walks, debate watch parties, happy hours, and Thanksgiving dinners. Check out our Events page for more information, and follow us on social media to stay informed about upcoming activities.
