A Gay ol’ Night in at the Cinema!

The DAFR LGBTQ+ Caucus cordially invites you to attend an online viewing of the 2014 film Pride via zoom (RSVP for the link) on Wednesday, March 13th at 20h. The film depicts the story of gay and lesbian activists raising money to help the families affected by the British miners’ strike in 1984. It is a touching story about the importance of community, intersectionality, and grass-roots organization.  This is also an important film for intergenerational understanding as it takes place during difficult times for the LGBTQ+ community who were facing the HIV/AIDS epidemic, hostility, and open legal discrimination.  If interested, you can see the trailer here.

Following the viewing we will hold a discussion about the film – your thoughts, opinions, and impressions.

Although this is a free event, we are asking that you donate US$10, the average price of a movie ticket to:  https://www.democratsabroad.org/fr_donate.

Democrats Abroad is an all-volunteer organization supported by fellow US citizens abroad like you from all around the world. It was grassroots activists, volunteers, supporters and voters who helped to propel Democrats to victory in 2020 and 2022, and we need your help for 2024! Your support will help Democrats Abroad mobilize the overseas US vote — including all across France. 100% of proceeds will go to helping Democrats Abroad France get out the vote in 2024 among Americans living in France.

Hope to see you at the viewing!
