As we wrote in our previous May Newsletter, Ohio Republicans created an August special election to vote on a new amendment to the Ohio Constitution that would make it much more difficult for Ohio citizens to propose ballot measures, collect enough valid signatures, and get the proposal onto a ballot, where Ohioans citizens vote to decide if it should become a law.
While they may claim it’s to keep “special interests” from controlling Ohio we all know that’s not it. Corrupt politicians are working to defeat the Reproductive Rights amendment that could be on the November ballot in Ohio (we will know for sure by August). Republicans will do anything to strip this right, including spending $20+Million on an election.

The Ohio Organizing Collaborative (OOC) [link: https://www.ohorganizing.org] is a grassroots organization that unites community organizing groups, student associations and faith organizations with labor unions and policy institutes throughout Ohio. At the state and local levels, OOC's priorities are centered around economic justice, criminal justice reform, and structural democracy reform -- expanding voting rights. Two of OOC's mottos are "Democracy is a 365-day endeavor" and "Building a multiracial, people-powered Ohio".
