Absentee Ballot Request Drive for U.S. Citizens on Saturday, September 5th in 30 locations across Germany
September 1, 2020 — With the nomination of the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates complete, the most intense phase of the 2020 presidential election has officially begun. Both parties now have their eyes set on the November 3 election and are hard at work mobilizing voters – including right here in Germany.
The 120,000+ U.S. citizens residing in Germany, as well as dual citizens, have the right to vote in the upcoming election. Many, however, are not aware that they can cast a ballot from overseas – one reason voter turnout has been historically low from Americans abroad. Now more than ever, every vote will count, and overseas voters will likely make the difference in many races across the United States in November.
To help U.S. citizens abroad request their absentee ballots and follow the sometimes complicated state-by-state guidelines, Democrats Abroad Germany is sponsoring “Vote From Abroad” voter assistance tables on September 5th at 30 locations throughout Germany. All tables are being held in accordance with local health guidelines. Virtual voter assistance sessions will also be held at three times during the day. The information stands and online assistance are strictly non-partisan and open to all U.S. voters.

Aktion zur Briefwahl für U.S.-AmerikanerInnen am Samstag, den 5. September in 30 deutschen Städten
01. September 2020 — Mit der Nominierung der Präsidentschaftskandidaten der Demokraten und der Republikaner hat die heiße Phase des U.S.-Wahlkampfs 2020 offiziell begonnen. Beide Parteien blicken zielstrebig auf den Wahltag am 3. November und arbeiten hart daran, ihre Wählerschaft zu mobilisieren – auch hierzulande.
Die über 120.000 in Deutschland wohnenden U.S.-BürgerInnen, auch diejenigen mit doppelter Staatsbürgerschaft, sind wahlberechtigt und können sich somit an der kommenden Präsidentschaftswahl beteiligen. Viele wissen jedoch nicht, dass sie tatsächlich einen Stimmzettel abgeben dürfen – ein Grund warum die Wahlbeteiligung von U.S.-BürgerInnen im Ausland historisch extrem niedrig ist. Mehr als je zuvor zählt in diesem Wahljahr jede Stimme und die im Ausland lebenden WählerInnen könnten dabei vielerorts den Unterschied machen.
Um U.S.-BürgerInnen beim Prozess der Beantragung von Briefwahlunterlagen zu unterstützen, welcher von Bundesstaat zu Bundesstaat unterschiedlich ist, organisiert Democrats Abroad Germany am Samstag, den 5. September “Vote From Abroad” Informationsstände an 30 Standorten in ganz Deutschland sowie virtuell. Alle Stände, die explizit überparteilich und allen U.S.-BürgerInnen zugänglich sind, werden unter Einhaltung der lokalen Hygienerichtlinien durchgeführt.
An den Infoständen haben Sie die Gelegenheit, mit U.S.-BürgerInnen über die anstehende Wahl zu diskutieren sowie sich über den Briefwahlprozess zu erkunden. Besuchen Sie am Samstag einen unserer
