What to Do Wednesday
Your Weekly Guide to Staying Politically Active—From Abroad
Wednesday, May 28, 2025
As we hit the midpoint of the week, it’s time to turn your concern into concrete action. Your voice matters—and this week, it’s especially important. Here’s how you can make an impact right now:
1. Contact Your Senators About the Trump Budget
Donald Trump’s proposed 2025 budget is a blueprint for extreme cuts that would hit working families hard while offering yet more tax breaks to the wealthiest. From slashing Medicaid and education funding to undermining climate initiatives, this budget is a stark reminder of what’s at stake.
ACTION ITEM:
Call or email your senators today—especially if you’re a constituent of a swing state. Let them know you oppose the Trump budget and demand a plan that supports economic fairness, healthcare, education, and climate justice. Need help contacting your Senators? Use https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm
Call Script Template:
“I’m a U.S. citizen living abroad and I vote in [your state]. I strongly oppose the proposed Trump budget and urge Senator [Name] to reject cuts to social programs and tax breaks for the wealthy. We need a budget that supports working families, protects our environment, and invests in our future.”
Another great tool for calling your Senators is 5Calls. Updated calling scripts are posted every day!
Email Templates:
You can use one of our email templates to write to your Democratic Senator or your GOP Senator and tell them to vote No on this budget. A great tool to use quickly write to your Senators is Democracy.io and you can find all of our email templates to elected officials here. .
