On Tuesday November 10th, we will meet on Zoom to discuss Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump by Maggie Haberman & Jonathan Swan.  This book covers the first year of Trump’s second presidency—a term liberated from every constraint that defined his first. His administration has flouted court orders and he has claimed powers that Congress once checked. This leaves a President willing to take enormous risks that have upended global markets and toppled heads of state; an imperial President operating almost entirely on instinct alone.  Based on hundreds of interviews and unprecedented reporting from deep within the administration’s most closely guarded rooms, Haberman and Swan reveal a man who is far more powerful, more vengeful, and more willing to gamble than any President in modern history.

Maggie Haberman is a long-time political reporter who has covered six US presidential elections. Since 2015, she has been a White House correspondent at The New York Times. She was part of the team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for reporting on Trump’s advisers and their connections to Russia.  In 2022, she published Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America. Jonathan Swan has reported on Donald Trump since 2015 at Axios, The Hill and now The New York Times. He won an Emmy Award in 2020 for his interview with then-President Trump. Both are frequent media commentators
