With Skype now retired, we wanted to share some options for calling the US from abroad so that you can contact your elected officials (you can find their numbers here) and make your voice heard:
- Google Voice - sign in to your Google Account, review and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and then select a Google Voice number by area code. You'll then need to verify your number and link it to an existing US phone number (yours if you still have one or a friend/family member's).
- TextNow - has an ad-supported free option.
- Yolla - relatively inexpensive paid option.
- Viber Out - paid web browser calling option
- OpenPhone - paid option.
Please note that we do not have any affiliation with these providers and encourage you to do research into whichever option you choose.
Other possibilities include wifi calling using a USA eSim, prepaid roaming fees with your existing phone provider, and more. If you have other recommendations to share, please send us an e-mail and we'll add them to this list!
