RESISTANCE EFFORTS
Resistance efforts across the United States are gaining momentum. It’s estimated that between 10 and 11 million people marched in defense of democracy. That is not counting Americans in the rest of the world.
GOOD NEWS ABOUT ELECTIONS 2025
Democrats won in almost every contest they entered. Some of the highlights were in Virginia where Dems flipped the Governor's, Lt. Governor’s, and Attorney General’s seats as well as gaining in Virginia’s legislature. We also won the New Jersey Governor’s election; Pennsylvania’s supreme court; and a big win for New York City with Zohran Mamdani winning the mayoral race.
NEW MERCH
We are working on new merchandise for Democrats Abroad Italy. However, our lead person had to resign due to health reasons. So, if you know anyone who would like to head this up, please let Charles Ippoliti know. We’d really like to get this going to show our resistance and voting efforts, and to support Democrats Abroad.
GET OUT THE VOTE
Democrats Abroad get out the vote efforts are ramping up. We’re already making calls and working with our student volunteers. Global will be scheduling training for volunteers towards the end of November after the 2025 elections are over. Volunteers are encouraged to do FVAP training as well. The GOTV committee also is working on possible advertising publications as well as getting out our message on social media. Indivisible and Good Trouble Florence also are interested in getting information out to prospective voters who are not members of DA Italy.
DEMOCRACY CIRCLES
Democracy circles are a great idea for informal, grassroots organizing against tyranny. They hearken back to the salons of the 1920s and earlier, when great minds got together in their local cafés and bistros, and discussed ways to make life better for everyone. George Perlov (Vice Chair Central Chapter) along with the Lucca Democracy Circle Committee have started organizing democracy circles. You might also think about setting one up in your area. Let me know if you’ve already set one up.

The EMEA retreat was a huge success this year. Leyani, Kelly, Nancy, and others returned with fresh ideas to improve communication, resistance efforts, and GOTV.

WHY PUBLISH WWDW?
Leyani and I wanted the leaders to have a place to share what we’re planning before it comes up for public consumption as well as reminders for things that are coming up, or for help that is needed. We want to make sure that all the leaders know about what’s happening on a national level and give a chance for chapters, precincts, and caucuses to share what they are planning as well. Please submit anything you want published by the Monday before publication to Charles Ippoliti at: [email protected].
