Candidate statement:

My name is Cruz Bonlarron Martínez. I have been living in Colombia since late 2020, where I was a Fulbright fellow and later worked for the UN supporting the implementation of the country’s 2016 Peace Agreement. These experiences, together with my experience working on Bernie Sanders’ 2020 Presidential campaign, make me uniquely qualified to represent US citizens living abroad on the DNC.

My candidacy will be based on two key issues: US foreign policy and the rights of US citizens living abroad. As a Democratic Socialist, I believe that U.S. foreign policy should be based on peace, solidarity, and respect for sovereignty. That means an end to US support for never-ending wars, an end to deadly sanctions, and full solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The representation of US citizens living abroad should also be a key issue to the DNC. By conducting research on and outreach to US citizens living abroad the DNC could engage many new voters, traditionally excluded from US politics.
