Candidate statement:
I am Kenton Barnes and I am asking for your vote. My introduction to Democrats Abroad was through Germany (DAG) in 2017 after Trump took office. Since then, I have worked to engage as many Americans in the US electoral process as possible. To that end, I have held a number of leadership roles in DAG: I helped start a Precinct in Braunschweig (where I live), and I was the LGBTQ+ Caucus Coordinator for DAG from 2017-19. In 2019, I was elected DAG Vice Chair and in 2021, I was elected DAG Chair, a position I currently hold. My experience in these various leadership roles, has given me the tools I feel are necessary to be an effective DNC Representative. As a leader, I have learned to listen to a myriad of voices and opinions and try to fashion my responses so that my constituents feel I have addressed their concerns. Similarly, I feel the role of the DNC Representatives is to listen to their constituents and to be their voice at DNC meetings. Furthermore, I believe my skill set would be effective at the DNC: I listen before I make decisions; I try to mediate effectively when disputes arise; I do my best to forge meaningful and lasting relationships with members of all walks of life; lastly, I would do my best to voice and defend your interests at the DNC. Therefore, it is my sincere hope that you consider casting your vote for me.
