When you live away from your country you gain a perspective different from that of the folks at home. Actions, developments, and challenges may surprise or be magnified but they become clear. It’s a powerful learning experience. Although I was born and raised in the States, I’ve spent most of my life in Europe and I look back at the issues mesmerizing the States. I feel a need to do more than the important work of encouraging and assisting the vote. I need to work to strengthen our democracy.
I live in France and vote in Connecticut. A life-long Democrat, I joined DA years ago to make a difference, to ‘be involved’ in efforts to influence issues impacting Americans. More profoundly I wanted to engage in the political process to ensure my/our country maintains a strong and responsive government in a free and equal society.
