New Leaders of DA Australia for 2024

On March 23 DA Australia elected a new team of leaders for the critical 2024 election period.  They will hold office for the next 12 months and lead our work to find Americans in Australia, register them to vote and persuade them to vote Blue in November to sustain our democracy and defeat the MAGA agenda.

DA Australia Chair Jasper Lee (ACT Local Chapter)

Jasper Lee arrived in Australia in February 2024 to start a degree in Foreign Relations and Political Science at Australia National University.  Despite his young age he comes to us with an enormous CV of experience in Democratic party building and electoral politics.  We are lucky to have his experience, energy and passion for our party and our organisation.  Welcome Jasper and we wish you best of luck and great success in your role.

DA Australia Vice Chair Tara Hardiman (NSW Local Chapter)

Tara Hardiman retired in 2022 and in 2023 relocated with her Australian husband to Sydney.   Tara is a lifelong Democrat and, influenced by her parents Democratic activism in their home stat eof Connecticut, Tara became a member of Democrats Abroad in NSW.  She brings to us an expansive understanding of government following a nearly 40 year career in U.S. Government (USG) service, rising to the Senior Executive Service level.

Tara holds a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and an M.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University’s School of Public and International Affairs.  Ms. Hardiman also holds a Diploma as an Associate of the Institute of Wines and Spirits from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, is a Certified Specialist of Wines and a Certified Specialist of Spirits under the Society of Wine Educators, and has been serving as a wine judge.
