This session is for American families living abroad who:
- Have a child or children (0-18 years old) living with you abroad
- Gave birth abroad but are unsure how to obtain U.S. citizenship for your child
- Aren't aware of the Child Tax Credit and want to know more
- Just moved abroad and don’t know how to start
- Just learned you qualify and want to file in order to take advantage of the Child Tax Credit
Topics discussed in the session will include the basics of filing a US return while living abroad and:
- How to claim the Child Tax Credit and how much your family is eligible to receive
- How to determine if your child born abroad is a U.S. citizen or can obtain U.S. citizenship
- How to register a birth from abroad
- How to obtain a Social Security Number in order to claim the Child Tax Credit
