‘Americans Abroad For Harris-Walz’ Global Event to feature celebrities and politicians rallying the American abroad vote

Inspired by Michelle Obama’s call at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago to DO SOMETHING, Democrats Abroad is working in partnership with others to bring the momentum from Chicago to millions of U.S. citizens around the world. In the coming days, U.S. citizens abroad of all stripes who support the Harris-Walz ticket - Democrats, Republicans, independents and others - will join the global organizing call. 

The line-up of celebrities, elected leaders, politicos and others who understand the importance of the abroad vote and want to rally it keeps growing. Confirmed speakers include: Jane Fonda, Kyra Sedgewick and Alfre Woodard, Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, U.S. Senators Cory Booker and Ed Markey, Arizona U.S. Senate candidate Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), former U.S. Ambassadors Bruce Heyman (Canada) & Suzi LeVine (Switzerland & Liechtenstein) and many others. 

“There are millions of U.S. voters around the world and the importance of the votes from abroad cannot be overstated,” said Bruce Heyman, former U.S. Ambassador to Canada, “In close races, votes from abroad are the margin of victory, as they were in ensuring that both Georgia and Arizona voted for Biden-Harris in 2020. In 2024, we’re working harder than ever to turn out the vote from Americans abroad, and this event is part of that work.” 

The event will feature a wide range of celebrities, elected officials, political strategists, and Americans abroad from all walks of life talking about why they support the Harris-Walz ticket and providing concrete actions other Americans abroad can take to help elect them. This begins with registering to vote, which Americans abroad can easily do at votefromabroad.org.
