To celebrate the end of the year, but also to kick off the coming election year, we’d like to invite you to the next meet and greet meeting of the Mannheim precinct of Democrats Abroad Germany. This dinner get-together is a chance for you to meet some current members of Democrats Abroad and find out what our organization is doing around the Rhein-Neckar area, and in Mannheim in particular.
In addition to meeting and greeting, we will also discuss:
- the past year's activities in MA and HD and organization of possible activities in Mannheim during the coming year:
- Next meeting of the Mannheim book club
- Phone-bank training and phone banking in general
- Postcards-to-voter writing sessions
- Polling station or voter help center for the Global Presidential Primary in the week following Super Tuesday in March, date to be announced.
- Anyone able to help, please contact Daniel at
- Voter registration stands in the city center
- Suggestions for other activities you would like the Mannheim Precinct to cover next year
- Next meeting, date and venue
To wrap the meeting up we think it would be fun to play “Secret Santa” with you all. So please bring along a small, wrapped gift with a value of less than 5 EUR or any "giftworthy" item you wish to regift.
If you plan to come please RSVP at email@example.com
Closest tram stops: Alte Feuerwache or Lange Roetterstr.
If anyone needs a ride, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Help us kick off 2020 as we take a look at our plans to Get Out The Vote (GOTV) in 2020 and discuss some of the pressing issues facing voters and the Democratic Party. IMPORTANT NOTE! Due to room scheduling, our meeting will be on SATURDAY this time. Our meetings are an informal get together, starting with informal discussion and drinks, then dinner, with a brief look at the state of our Heidelberg Chapter followed by guided political discussion. If you haven't joined us before, come on by and see what's going on!
A reading group among Democrats Abroad members has taken off in the Mannheim/Ludwigshafen area! The first, and very interesting, meeting was in Mannheim, and this one will be in Ludwigshafen so as to be fair about the distance for those people living on the Pfalz side of the river. We will probably switch back and forth.
The next book up for discussion is Outliers, by M. Gladwell. If you are interested in joining us, please RSVP by sending an email to email@example.com
Please join Germany Black Caucus Chair, Derek Bembry, and International Black Caucus Chair Angela Fobbs for lunch at Zum Achter. We had originally planned a brunch, but with the amount of interest, and the addition of a presentation, we've had to change venues (and therefore meals).
This lunch is a chance for you to meet Derek and Angela, and learn about what the Black Caucus is doing in Germany, especially for the 2020 election. Derek's presentation will focus primarily on increasing voter turnout by focusing on youth and black voters. He will point out the opportunity in each voter segment as well as issues that appeal to both.
Zum Achter is located just over the Neckar from Bismarckplatz. Public transportation access is good, Bismarckplatz is only ~5 mins by foot. Also, the bus stop Bergstraße is directly in front of the building (bus line 34). If you’re driving, the parking garage Parkhaus Brückenkopf Neuenheim is adjacent to the restaurant.
