Don't forget your sunscreen, or your ballot request!

🌞 Summer is here and the sun is shining in Oslo today! We have a lot to report since our last newsletter, since we just held our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Thanks to everyone who attended and if you couldn’t make it but would like to see it you can watch the recording here or see the slides from the meeting here.

We have several upcoming events in Oslo including a Zohran Mamdani-style scavenger hunt and picnic 🧺  this Sunday June 14th (weather permitting), Pub Night at Brygg 🍻 on Wednesday the 17th, and we’re marching in Oslo Pride 🏳️‍🌈 on Saturday June 27th (event info forthcoming) - please RSVP on the DAN website if you’d like to join us. Our Stavanger chapter may have a gathering this weekend as well, in honor of the anniversary of the 1st No Kings/No Tyrants event, so check their Facebook page for information!

Here are some highlights from the AGM:

  • Our treasurer Pat Gunn gave us a report on the DAN finances.  Our major expenditures over the past year were for AV equipment for protests/rallies, event supplies for the Halloween party and Valentine’s crafternoon, stamps for mailing members and representatives cards, and our Spring call campaign. If you’d like to donate to DAN you can do so here. We’ll be doing another mailing soon to DAN members who can’t be reached via email or telephone.
  • We reported on around 15 different activities and events that DAN has led in the past year including No Tyrants protests, family events, pub nights, call campaigns, Norway’s Black Caucus formation, and more. You elected us to “Do Something!” and we have!
  • Christina Skovsgaard, voting representative, reported on the DA Global AGM recently held in Nairobi and online, explaining some of the resolutions that were voted on and reporting back about the excellent speakers.
  • David Morse, vice-chair, talked about the Spring DAN call campaign to members that led to 1840 calls made and a 106% increase in DAN members requesting their ballots for this election year - great job team!
  • Christina, David, and Andy Stites also spoke on volunteer opportunities for Get Out The Vote work needed for this important midterm year. Please contact us if you’d like to get involved.

The DAN Executive Committee will be taking a bit of a summer break in July so we will not have any events until August. We’ll also be sending out a survey in August to find out how we can better serve you over the next year. Have a fantastic summer and remember, if you haven’t requested your ballots 🗳️ yet go to votefromabroad.org and do it today!
