The sunshine came out for a perfect 4th of July picnic!
posted by Scott Baker | Chair, Riviera Chapter
July 05, 2021In spite of the rain earlier in the day, the sunshine came back just in time to host our 4th of July picnic! We had our flag and our sign out for everyone to see who was walking along the famous Promenade des Anglais. It was great to see everyone in person and share what have we been doing in the last year. 😎

POLITICAL MATTERS: A CONVERSATION WITH MITCHELL COHEN
Join us for a conversation with Mitchell Cohen, an internationally-known political analyst, essayist and critic. From 1991 to 2009, he was co-editor of Dissent, one of the United States' leading progressive quarterlies. He is professor of political science at Baruch College of the City University of New York and the CUNY Graduate Center.
Mitchell Cohen will join Democrats Abroad France for drinks and an informal conversation about the current US political situation, the Democratic Party, its strengths and weaknesses, our prospects for the 2022 midterm elections, and the dramatic challenges we are now facing – challenges made worse by the 4-year tenure of Donald Trump.

Plage des Carras in Nice, FranceFourth of July Picnic
After last year's success, we are going to hold another 4th of July picnic - on Sunday the 3rd of July!
We will congregate at the west end of the famous Promenade des Anglais in Nice, at a beach called Carras. This area has many amenities such as trees for shade, pétanque courts, handicap parking, and is even dog-friendly! It is also very easy to access by A8 and voie rapide for members living outside of Nice. There is public parking, Carras - Les Bosquets, within walking distance. Using public transport you can take Tram #2 to Carras, or several bus lines serving the area (#12 and #32).
To find your hosting Executive Committee, look for the American flag and individuals dress in red, white and blue.
We ask everyone to bring their own food and drinks - this event is not a potluck. Also don’t forget to bring your own blankets, chairs, swimsuits and cutlery.
