Celebrate America's 250th birthday with a special 4th of July small-group guided walking tour through revolutionary history in London!
This Independence Day, step into the fascinating and often overlooked story of Americans in London with a unique guided walking tour through Chelsea led by fellow Democrats Abroad UK member and professional Golden-Key Badge guide Lisa of Eclectic Tours.
Commissioned last year for the 250th of the Battle of Lexington & Concord by the National Army Museum in Chelsea, this walk starts with the origins of the Revolutionary War and ends with examining the complex legacy that lingers with all Americans who have made their lives in Britain. Along the way, we meet prominent writers and artists, and soldiers.
This walking tour traces not only Americans but American connections to Chelsea which remain forever linked in how they lived, died, and continue to be associated with the area. From the Royal Hospital Chelsea to homes of American and American / British citizens to their final burial places, come along on this walk as we cover the hybrid existences of Americans in Chelsea.
This walk includes stops at: Royal Hospital Chelsea, Chelsea Physics Garden, Chelsea Old Church, and St Mary’s Church of Battersea (the final ending point).
Whether you're a history lover, politics enthusiast, London explorer, or simply looking for a meaningful way to celebrate the 4th of July, this walk offers a great experience.
