LETTER FROM THE CHAIR
Greetings!
The United States has always been known as “The Land of the Free.” For nearly 250 years, freedom has been foundational to the American story. It invokes resilience, opportunity and justice FOR ALL. Today, freedom is under threat.
For women - of all ages and all cultural heritages - the fight for Freedom is our fight. Throughout time and across cultures, women have been held down. As we know, reproductive freedom has always been the key to all the others: our economic freedom, freedom to choose where we live, freedom to love, freedom to lead. The Christian Right has ensured that abortion is no longer the law of the land, and they are now advocating for pronatalism.
That should scare you, but more importantly, that should RALLY YOU to join this fight. To volunteer. To VOTE. The recent events around Jimmy Kimmel’s whiplash cancellation and return showed us that we, the people, still have power.
Our purpose has never been more clear: WE FIGHT FOR FREEDOM. Women are and have always been community builders - for our friends, for political organizing, at our jobs, certainly for our families. I profoundly believe that the way out of this mess is through the power of women; it always has been. Freedom is embedded in our hearts and souls. Cue Beyoncé. Or George Michael. Or Richie Havens. Or hell, my dad’s favorite - Pete Seeger.
Freedom isn’t just for those in power. Let’s reclaim it for ALL Americans. Embrace it. Put it on signs. Shout it in chants. Meditate or Pray to it - whatever brings you peace. Dance ecstatically under a full moon. Let’s start a global movement - the work is as essential as it is vast. Join us.
Vote.

Additional Volunteer Information
VOTE and GET OUT THE VOTE!
There are several elections in November that could be key to 2026 elections. There’s still time to request your ballot. Go to votefromabroad.org today. Even if you don’t have an election this year, request your ballot. Special elections can pop up any time, and we must always be ready to VOTE.
These elections could have major impact on both women’s rights and future election certifications in important swing states:
California: Prop 50 approves a temporary redistricting plan
Pennsylvania: Three Democratically appointed State Supreme Court seats need to be defended.
Virginia: Abigail Spanberger is running for Governor. She needs ALL Virginians to vote. Also at stake is who controls the important House of Delegates.
New Jersey: Mikie Sherrill is neck and neck with her Republican opponent for Governor. She’s running on affordability and freedom. We need her. And control of the State legislature is up for grabs - Dems need to turn out to keep NJ the bluest of blue.
And for good measure….
New York: Let’s elect Zohran Mamdani! New Yorkers - lucky you! Return your ballots.

Back due to popular demand! Don’t miss a great read and stimulating conversation. Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie recounts an ancient story, Antigone, in modern form. Antigone is the timeless clash of people torn between their cultural identity and loyalty to the state against political and social activists who wish to alienate them. Family, faith, power, and culture played out in modern England. Pakistani Muslim English siblings caught by radicalization and the forces in our society that we are all facing. Call it radicalization, maga-ism, hatred of the Other, misplaced faith… alas, it’s our lot today. RSVP here...
