2018 Annual General Meeting meets in Valencia

This year's Annual General Meeting will highlight the Activism seen across the world in response to the current US administration and events which impact our lives. Increasing we are not turning a blind eye to the wrongs of society but we are speaking out and organizing.

Nicole Pearson will lead a panel that discusses the issues that have challenged American society for many years and a new sense of empowering Activism springing up almost spontaneously. The example of Black Women from the Civil Rights movement to their activism today will be the start off point for our discussion.  Activism is changing the conversation and the reality on the ground.  From the massive world-wide Womens March, the more recent March for Our Lives, and now the swelling reaction to the imprisonment of immigrant babies and children. Grassroots Activism is changing the conversation.

We will have as our special guest, the Chair of Democrats Abroad, Julia Bryan who will be coming from the Czech Republic to join the discussions and fill us in on the efforts to build our organization,  She will discuss the initiative Democrats Abroad is taking to reach more overseas voters for these mid-terms and 2020.

The meeting will kick off with a review of US taxes that overseas Americans are obliged to file. The efforts of Democrats Abroad Tax Policy Task Force will be outlined and what we can do to assist their efforts to move to Resident Based Taxation.

We will have an update on how everyone can participate in Voter Registration, which is our best way to engage more overseas Americans in our Get Out The Vote effort in Spain.  Voter registration will be available on site. 

The meeting will include a short business meeting where reports will be given and we will vote on changes to the Bylaws of Democrats Abroad Spain to include the DNC mandate of one person/one vote.

We will share a typical Valencian meal together catered by a nearby restaurant.  Breaks and Lunch 20€

The meeting coincides with the Valencian Gay Pride Parade that evening at 19.30 which Democrats Abroad will be participating in with signs and rousing cheers, encouraging Americans along the way to register to vote.
