Under the Radar: OH GOP Bill Tries to Limit Speech

Just in from Ohio activists, this bill is moving ahead while other more 'headline' ones take up the oxygen. But this one affects folks in mobile home parks and other shared residential facilities from flying their colors.

It gets some go-ahead tomorrow. The cut-off for testimony at this point is tomorrow morning Ohio time. For those of us not in Columbus, we can upload 'testimony.'

SB 202 – Enact the Chief Steven DiSario Act

Tim Schaffer (614-466-8076; [email protected]) is the primary sponsor. The bill would prohibit manufactured home park operators, condominium associations, neighborhood associations, and landlords from restricting the display of the thin blue line flag. Ohioans Against Extremism opposes this bill. SB 202 was introduced in the Senate on 5/14/25, and referred to the Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee. It will receive a third proponent/opponent/interested party (possible vote!) on Weds., May 13, 9:45 a.m., Grant Hearing Room.
