Weaponizing the DOJ Without Ammunition

Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan, head of the House Judiciary Committee, seems intent on making a fool of himself and the OH-04. This week, he referred former special prosecutor Jack Smith to the DOJ for 'seemingly' lying in a closed-door deposition last year.

The problem with the complaint, as this Boston Herald report points out, is that Smith truthfully answered the questions put to him. Ari Velshi reads out the exchange in this video and brings in a law professor to explain.  

The questions concerned whether Smith and his team had subpoenaed the content of congresspersons' phone and text records. They had not. They did receive some content via records of exchanges with the White House, on a subpoena to the National Archives. Smith was not asked about that subpoena. 

Going after someone on the President's enemies list seems to be no more than showboating before the November midterm election. Embarrassing!
