A new Ohio political ad used artificial intelligence to attach a U.S. Senate candidate’s face on an actor’s body, likely the beginning of A.I. in political ads, Jeremy Pelzer reports in Cleveland Com.

In other states, politicians have used deepfakes to make ads of their political opponents, which have raised questions about whether viewers will see them as real. Unlike a majority of states, Ohio has no regulations on the use of A.I. or deepfakes in political ads. Multiple bills to create such rules have so far stalled this legislative session.
