Democratic Viewpoints Book Club - September
Join volunteers Elaine and Erica to read and discuss a variety of democratic perspectives. They tend to select books by authors with extensive lived experience as political outsiders, from demographics that are typically underrepresented in political literature hoping to discover unconventional insights into American political life and systems.
September’s book is “On Tyranny: On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century” by Timothy Snyder. A “bracing” (Vox) guide for surviving and resisting America’s turn towards authoritarianism, from “a rising public intellectual unafraid to make bold connections between past and present” (The New York Times).
