Join volunteers Elaine and Erica to read and discuss a variety of democratic perspectives.
They tend to select books by authors with extensive lived experience as political outsiders, from demographics that are typically underrepresented in political literature hoping to discover unconventional insights into American political life and systems.
June’s book is You Better be Lightning by Andrea Gibson in celebration of Pride Month. They are one of the most celebrated poets and performers of the last two decades and their poems presented in this book "range from close examination of the deeply personal to the vastness of the world, exploring the expansiveness of the human experience from love to illness, from space to climate change, and more." Space is limited to 20 participants per month.
