18 October No Kings, No Tyrants Event - Joburg

 

On Saturday, October 18, millions across the U.S., here in South Africa, and around the world will rise together in a coordinated day of action to say loud and clear: No Tyrants. The power belongs to the people.

The U.S. Administration is escalating its attacks: sending militarized forces into communities, threatening free speech, undermining civil rights and social protections, conducting mass deportations, and manipulating voting rules for its own gain — all while families are struggling. This isn’t just politics. It’s democracy versus dictatorship — and together, we choose democracy.
 

📣 Join us at Democracy Bar in Illovo for an afternoon of community, creative visibility protest, and....resisting with comedy!

• All nationalities are welcome, so bring your friends and family but please note that this may not be appropriate for children. 
  Please reach out to other US Citizens and extend this invitation.
  
  
• Bring a sign that expresses your voice or bring materials to make them there. We'll also have supplies on hand to make signs.
  
  
• Photos: We plan to take photos to share online/publicly. Please feel free to say so if you prefer not to appear in individual or group photos. You can also choose to stand in photos with your sign covering your face, wear sunglasses etc.
