DASA LOVES To See Our Members Get Excited About A Candidate!

Former NC Governor Roy Cooper and Charles Belk
We love to see our members get excited about candidates back home and parlay that excitement into action! Prior to our most recent “Take Action Tuesday” call, DASA member and North Carolina voter from abroad, Charles Belk, expressed how his excitement for former North Carolina Democratic Governor, Roy Cooper’s announcement of his bid for the upcoming open US Senate seat, will lead him into taking action!
“Not since Obama 2008 have I been this ALL IN for a candidate for anything…” Charles wrote from Bali. “In fact, I’m so excited, I contemplated, for a few minutes, moving back to NC to work on his campaign! But decided it will have to be a “Remote Work” kind of contribution!,” he jokingly added.
The impact of Democrats Abroad has shown us that “Remote Work” for our candidates can indeed have tremendous impact!
Let us know which candidates back home YOU are excited about and looking to put in “remote work” for. DASA can help!
Check out this clip of Rachel Maddow with former Governor Cooper the night of his announcement - the energy is contagious!

Thanks for sharing your excitement Charles and for encouraging members to get involved in Take Action Tuesdays, voter outreach and more!

Did you know more than 100,000 elections are happening in 2025?
This year, voters across the country will choose their governors, mayors, school board and city council members, and more. From education and the economy to reproductive rights and climate, all of these people make decisions that impact our local communities and beyond.
Request your ballot to be ready for any elections you're eligible to vote in!

Being in Connecticut and New York right now, I am seeing and hearing firsthand just how critical primaries, local and state elections are - particularly in this moment! - Liz O'Leary, DASA Chair
VOTERS IN SOUTH AFRICA - Mobilising potential voters in SA is, of course, our priority so we ask you to help us find and engage US Citizens in SA:
- Send them to www.votefromabroad.org to request their overseas ballots as we prepare for 2025 and 2026 elections
- Encourage them to become a member at www.democratsabroad.org/join
VOTERS IN THE STATES - Over the coming months and years we'll also need to motivate our family and friends in the States to vote in every primary and election:
We can work on some plans to do this together, but you can get started by taking a look at your city/town and state elections coming up in 2025 or those where your family and friends can have an impact.
- Ballotpedia is a good source of election info but you can also google for State and Local details
- Note the dates in your calendar and schedule some time to reach out to people
- Research specific issues and candidates in those elections
- Think about specific interests your friends and family care about
- Reach out directly, share on social media etc....and then repeat
- Send voters in the US to When We All Vote
