Donations for Wreaths

Memorial Day ceremonies organized by the American Battle Monuments Commission at the different military cemeteries in France were held on Sunday, May 25th:

Suresnes Lafayette Esquadrille Memorial     Belleau Woods/Chateau Thierry    

Oise-Aisne    La Somme     St. Avold     Epinal    Meuse-Argonne 

St. Mihiel    Draguinan/Rhone     Normandy 

Democrats Abroad France continues to perpetuate the Memorial Day tradition, with members laying wreaths at the different ABMC ceremonies. These are very moving events, with flyovers and US military bands. After the ceremony, we ask the ABMC staff to place our wreaths on the graves, particularly those of Afro-American soldiers.

Even if you were unable to attend one of these ceremonies, we would greatly appreciate any contribution to help offset the cost of the wreaths. You can donate on this page, below. For your information, each wreath costs 75€.

Here you will find an article about the infamous Plot E at the Oise-Aisne cemetery, the final resting place for “dishonored soldiers” and the story of Eddie Slovik, a WWII deserter and Emmett Till’s father, Luis Till who was accused of rape and murder.
