DA Denmark Book Club 2026-2027 Reading List

Democrats Abroad Denmark Book Club is a place to read, reflect, and connect with fellow Democrats Abroad members over stories and ideas that shape our understanding of democracy, society, and the world we live in.

We meet the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm. In even-numbered months, we discuss the books we've chosen for our reading list. In the off months, we explore a topic of current interest and provide links to an article, podcast or video in advance so everyone can participate fully. These sessions are designed to keep our conversations lively, engaging, and thought-provoking, even when we're not diving into a full book. RSVP on our events page to get the links for our online discussions. We look forward to reading with you!

Here's our book list for 2026-2027:
October 2026 – The People's House by David Pepper
With Donald Trump spreading disinformation about voting machines and stolen elections, we are starting our new book club year with a thriller about an unsuccessful attempt to hijack an election.

December 2026 – How to Eat an Elephant: One Voter at a Time by Sarah Longwell
Political strategist Sarah Longwell tells her story and discusses what she hears from voters every day in focus groups. After what we hope will be a wave election, it's a perfect read with tips to start healing the country and a hopeful way to enter the New Year.

February 2027 – The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
We are afraid that a dystopian novel about an authoritarian regime will still be relevant as Donald Trump begins the second half of his second term as president.

April 2027 – Liar's Kingdom: How to Stop Trump's Deceit and Save America by Andrew Weissmann
Andrew Weissmann, lead prosecutor on Special Counsel Mueller's team, brings his legal expertise to bear in an exploration on how U.S. laws could be modified to prevent another authoritarian takeover in the future.

June 2027 – All the Shah's Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror by Stephen Kinzer
As we are dealing with the consequences of the Trump administration's war of choice with Iran, this book takes a look back at Middle Eastern history and the history of U.S. involvement in Iran.

August 2027 – Enough by Cassidy Hutchinson
Our final book is a memoir by Cassidy Hutchinson, one of the bravest witnesses to testify before the January 6th Commission. Read how the insurrection opened her eyes to the damage Trump is inflicting on the country.
