This United States official government site, Moms.gov is an illegal attempt to misinform and mislead women, the consequences of which can end in their death.
Yes, women are dying as a result of bad information and refusal of care from hospitals.
This site promotes unlicensed crisis pregnancy centers (CPSs) which give out erroneous and misleading medical advice to pregnant women. Instead of counseling women on contraception, as does Planned Parenthood, these centers are not regulated or licensed by any state or Federal legislation or professional bodies, do not have medical staff on hand and regularly cause women to maintain dangerous pregnancies which can end in death when emergency services in hospitals in anti-abortion states refuse to help women who are hemorrhaging from miscarriage.
The site also excludes all informed medical information on reproductive health, such as abortion, contraceptives and sexually transmitted diseases. It doesn’t even mention the words.
It also excludes reliable references such as Planned Parenthood, which offers prenatal care, contraception, cancer screenings and other important reproductive health services.
Since January 2025, 57 Planned Parenthood clinics across 20 states have either shut down or combined with another care site, and only 247 Planned Parenthood clinics across 29 states now participate in the Title X family planning program, which, for the last 50 years, has provided a broad range of family planning and preventive health services free or at a low-cost to low-income patients. And that does not even count the number of women cut off from Medicaid services for reproductive health by the Trump Administration.
The site mentions fertility, pregnancy, breastfeeding, nutrition, adoption, mental health, STIs, diabetes, and even Trump Accounts for children — but contraception is completely absent.
What it does recommend instead of birth control is telling: Fertility Awareness-Based Methods (FABMs) - essentially the rhythm method - to "recognize signs of your fertile period."
Much of the information on the site is at the worst, blatantly false and at best, is misleading and not proven by scientific research and facts.
Finally, there are privacy concerns. As an example, the site lists as a referral network Option Line, which is operated by an anti-abortion group, Heartbeat International. This organization is a faith- based advocacy network and is NOT a health care professional. Users of this network may not realize that they are giving away personal data without any control on how such information is used.
This site is propaganda at its best. It pushes a pro-natalist view with no alternatives. It is the MAGA women story which treats women as objects to produce babies as a civic or national obligation, rather than a choice. It is full of disinformation and does not address the disproportionate increase in pregnancy complications and maternal mortality of Black women.
The US Government should stay OUT OF OUR REPRODUCTIVE LIVES AND GET OFF OUR BODIES.
