Right On, Write On! Workshop Launch
Words Matter Monthly Writers Workshop
Last Thursday of the month (7:00-8:30 pm)Online
A space to write, release, reflect, and reach others
Writing is more than putting words on paper. Writing is release.
A journal releases the individual. It gives shape to thoughts that would otherwise stay trapped inside—fear, anger, joy, confusion, hope. It helps us make sense of ourselves and the world around us. But writing does not stop there.
A blog can challenge ideas. An article can inform and correct misinformation.
A poem can heal, provoke, comfort, or awaken. A story can inspire courage.
A personal reflection can encourage someone who thought they were alone.
Words teach.
Words empower.
Words motivate.
Words connect.
And sometimes, words save.
And perhaps most importantly:
Words outlive us.
In a time where misinformation spreads quickly, bad faith arguments dominate conversations, and discouragement can feel overwhelming, people need something stronger coming from every side: truth, encouragement, empowerment, and humanity. This workshop was created for that purpose.
It was also created to build stronger community—within Democrats Abroad and especially among women—through shared reflection, creativity, and meaningful exchange.
This workshop can also help generate meaningful content for newsletters, caucus communications, blogs, campaigns, and public conversations.
Because words matter, and the right words, at the right time, can move people.
How It Works
Each month, participants receive a range of writing themes or topics connected to current issues, social themes, feminist perspectives, civic engagement, joy, resistance, and community-building.
Participants choose one or two topics that speak to them—or bring their own.
How you respond is entirely up to you:
-
prose
-
poetry
-
reflection
-
article
-
opinion piece
-
spoken-word style
-
journal entry
There is no single right form. Only honest expression.
The workshop is structured as follows:
35 minutes — writing time
55 minutes — sharing and discussion
This time ratio is flexible and may shift depending on group size, participation, and the needs of the moment.
Each month will bring a new range of themes to keep the writing fresh, relevant, and alive.
