It's Earth Day, and there's no better time to practice small, local actions that help create a better future for our planet. Democrats Abroad live all over the world, and wherever we are, there's something we can do this week to tread a little more lightly on the Earth.
🌍 We’ve gathered together a list of action suggestions for each day of this week. They’re simple, doable, and planet-friendly.
Tuesday: Wash clothes in cold water and air dry your laundry— Both cut carbon emissions and protect your clothes.
Wednesday: Walk, bike, or take public transport — Leave the car at home if you can.
Thursday: Eat a plant-based meal — Even one meat-free day a week helps reduce emissions.
Friday: Refuse single-use plastic — Bring your own bag, bottle, or cup today.
Saturday: Pick up litter in your neighborhood — Solo or with friends, picking up litter makes a visible impact.
Sunday: Mindful recycling — Sort correctly and learn your local recycling rules.
Monday: Make it a habit — Choose one action (or more) from the list and build it into your daily life. Little changes add up!
🌱 Want to go further? Start a compost bin, plant a tree or some pollinator-friendly flowers, or join a local cleanup effort. Little things done locally are part of the big picture globally.
Democrats Abroad knows that climate change is real, urgent, and solvable — and that meaningful change starts with each of us. We’d love to hear your ideas for other local environmental actions people can take! Send your suggestions to [email protected] and we’ll share a selection in the notes below.
