“The Brink” Film Screening Draws Democrats in Lisbon and Porto

The documentary film "The Brink" had its Portugal premiere in Lisbon on October 24, as part of the doclisboa film festival. Over 40 Democrats Abroad members attended the premier to view the film, in which award-winning filmmaker Alison Klayman takes on former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, following him for over a year as he tries to promote his brand of extreme nationalism and unite the far-right anti-immigrant parties of Europe.

Director Klayman was on hand to answer questions from the audience after the film. Democrats Abroad members were able to meet Klayman in person and mingle at an exclusive after-party at "Wine with a View" just upstairs from the theatre.

Just a few days later on October 27, Democrats in Porto gathered at Bar of Soap in Porto for an informal screening of the film. Klayman attended this event as well, and a lively question and answer session ensued after the screening.

Variety called the film "impeccably crafted...an engaging and enraging, disturbing and highly revealing movie." In his Critic's Pick review, A.O Scott wrote "it's a fast-moving, tightly packed, at times unnervingly entertaining documentary.” For more information and a trailer, visit the director’s website.
