Taxation Task Force Webinar Lead - Apply here
The Democrats Abroad Taxation Task Force (TTF) hosts webinars to help DA members understand requirements for US tax and other filings, and provides expert-led information sessions on similar issues that impact Americans abroad.
These webinars are a popular service offered to the DA membership and a fundraising tool for Democrats Abroad at large.
There are approximately five webinars/year held February - June. The demand for webinars may be increased with introduction in Congress of critical tax legislation.
The Taxation Task Force needs a dedicated volunteer to lead this important service in 2025. It can also be a shared position and/or an opportunity for the Webinar Lead to reduce the workload by coordinating a team of volunteers.
Following are the processes and tasks involved in a webinar. Many of the tasks involve working with other volunteers to complete.
-
Coordinate with TTF Chair to invite guest speakers to a webinar. Serve as the primary liaison between DA and the guest speaker.
2. Once a webinar topic, date and speaker have been confirmed, promote the event to DA membership:
- Reach out to the DA website volunteer to create an “event web page.” Provide details and text for the event;
- Submit event form to DA Global Communications for an “email blast” to DA membership;
- Add events to the regional events listing (Google form);
- Create a Google webinar feedback form for sharing during and after the meeting; and
- Act as and/or invite other Zoom moderators to moderate the event (we already have a bank of volunteers for this). During the webinar, monitor and manage the chat of the live webinar with links, fundraising reminders and order of questions, or check that volunteer moderators are completing these tasks.
- After the webinar:
- Send thank you to guest speaker;
- Prepare and arrange for an email to send webinar recording to attendees and feedback form;
- Document the event with guest speaker, # of attendees, and feedback received;
- Capture any learnings from feedback for smooth operations of the next webinar in a Google Doc maintained in the Taxation Task Force Webinars Folder;
- Share feedback with the Taxation Task Force; and
- Maintain a calendar of potential and confirmed webinars for the year.
Key skills for this position:
Technical Proficiency (strongly preferred) - Familiarity with Zoom, Google Workspace (Docs, Forms, Calendar)
Project Management - Ability to oversee multiple tasks and processes, coordinate with team members, and ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
Collaboration and Delegation - Ability to work with and manage a team of volunteers by assigning tasks effectively, especially for roles like moderating and chat management.
