Brittany Community Update – July : Past Events

Recent Brittany—Loire West Events July 2026

Featured Event — 4th of July Community Picnic see photos and the whole story in the Lighter Side

Americans from across Brittany and western France gathered in Rennes to celebrate Independence Day with an afternoon of friendship, food, games, conversation, and community.

With more than 50 members and guests joining us this was our largest July 4 gathering yet. New friendships were formed, old ones renewed, and many first-time attendees joined us to learn more about Democrats Abroad Brittany.

Throughout the afternoon, volunteers shared information about voting from abroad, upcoming activities, and ways to get involved in strengthening our growing community. Families enjoyed games, music, the photo booth, our community raffle, and plenty of great food generously shared by everyone who attended. Our raffle featured prizes donated by members of our own community, highlighting the many talents, skills, and interests that make our chapter unique.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize the event, donated food or raffle prizes, volunteered their time, and welcomed new members. Your involvement has given us a wonderful head start as we continue helping Americans vote, strengthening our community, and supporting democracy together.

June 13 — Nantes | The Ultra Rich and Their Threat to DemocracyMaison Nantes

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this thought-provoking afternoon. Professor Marion Pineau, Professor at l'Université Permanente in Nantes, presented a fascinating lecture in French exploring how concentrated wealth and influence can affect democracy, fundamental rights, and public institutions.

Following the presentation, Democrats Abroad Brittany shared information about voting from abroad, voter assistance, volunteer opportunities, and ways to become more involved with our growing community. The afternoon concluded with lively conversation as attendees exchanged ideas, made new connections, and continued the discussion over refreshments.

Events like this help educate voters, strengthen our community, and prepare us for the important work ahead as we approach the 2026 U.S. midterm elections.

Community Is Something We Build Together

Community doesn't happen by accident. It's built one conversation, one shared meal, one helping hand, and one new friendship at a time.

This month, members donated raffle prizes, offered rides, shared tables and chairs, brought food, volunteered their time, and welcomed newcomers. None of those things are required. Together, they create the kind of community that makes people feel they belong.

Living abroad can sometimes feel isolating, especially during difficult times in the United States. That's why Democrats Abroad is about more than elections. It's about supporting one another, learning together, sharing experiences, and reminding each other that none of us is facing these challenges alone.

Whether you volunteer, attend an event, share a skill, offer a ride, or simply stop to introduce yourself to someone new, you're helping build something that matters.

Thank you for being part of it.

Join us! And bring a friend!
