How to keep up with Florida news

We know it can be difficult to keep up with news in Florida when you’re living abroad. To lend a hand, Floridians Abroad has compiled a list of suggestions for online resources. These are all free and should be available online outside of the USA, depending on where you're based.

THE LIST

Progress Florida is a nonprofit organization promoting progressive values through digital organizing, media outreach, and collaborating with Florida’s leading progressive organizations. www.progressflorida.org. The best way of staying on top of the Florida news is by signing up for their daily clips. You’ll receive Florida headlines from dozens of news sources across the state and nation. Sign up HERE.

Florida Phoenix is a nonprofit statewide progressive news site staffed with journalists. You can subscribe to their free daily newsletter recapping the most important news events here: www.floridaphoenix.org

This option isn’t normally free, but subscribing to the daily newspaper that covers your voting area will keep you informed. For free, you can at least subscribe to receive daily headlines via email from the publication, but you won’t be able to read the stories if your paper is behind a paywall.

Florida Democratic Party County Websites: Go to the Democratic Party website in your county and you’ll find that they usually have a newsletter you can sign up for. That will keep you up to date on local election issues and candidates.

Blue Voter Guide helps make quick, informed, pro-democracy choices of candidates and propositions by showing what's on your ballot, with endorsements from trusted, forward-looking organizations. www.bluevoterguide.org

Ballotpedia is the digital encyclopedia of American politics and elections. www.ballotpedia.org

League of Women Voters: This nonprofit publishes Voter Guides. Find the League local to you and check out their resources HERE
