DAJ & DAROK: Equal Rights Amendment Discussion & Action

On March 11, 2025, DA Japan and DA Republic of Korea co-hosted the virtual event “Equal Rights Amendment: Discussion & Action.” The event was organized in response to former President Biden's January 17 declaration of the 28th Amendment, commonly known as the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), as "the law of the land." With the current administration's stance on equal rights uncertain, the event aimed to explore strategies for defending and advancing the ERA.

The event started with an introduction on what is the ERA, followed by an overview of its historical background, highlighting its recent ratification and the significance of its recognition as the 28th Amendment. The event also provided information on the current status of the ERA as well as steps that individuals and communities can undertake to support the ERA.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, allowing attendees to share insights, ask questions, and discuss related matters. Several discussion questions were brought up focusing on ways to support the ERA, supporting local and international organizations, and call to action to amplify the importance of equal rights.

Overall, the event served as a platform for education, discussion, and mobilization, reinforcing the collective responsibility to defend and promote equal rights in the face of evolving political landscapes under the new administration.
