April Book Group - Caste: The Origins of our Discontents

The Barcelona chapter book group has selected this "eye-opening story of people and history" that documents "how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings." Published in 2020, it won the Goodreads Choice Award for History and Biography that year and was an Oprah's Book Club selection. (496 pages)

The meeting on Saturday, April 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm is being held at a new English-language bookstore, Backstory Bookshop, owned by two Americans. They have physical copies of the book for sale and also loan through their Membership Library service.
