  • Oktoberfest Celebration: Online Beer Tasting

Despite Oktoberfest being cancelled again this year, Democrats Abroad Germany has just the thing for you to celebrate: an online beer tasting!

DA Germany will gather online on Saturday, October 2nd at 7pm CEST for the 13th Annual Democrats Abroad Oktoberfest Extravaganza! Instead of meeting in our usually reserved gallery seats, we will meet online from the comforts of our home for an online beer tasting.

Our online Oktoberfest ticket (€46) includes:

    • 5 beers
    • 1 tasting glass
    • Professional moderation and guidance during the tasting in English from Vagabund Brauerei

The tasting will last approximately 1-1.5 hours.  The beer and glass will be sent to you prior to the event from the tasting company. These tasting packages can only be sent to addresses in Germany and EU member states. We encourage other country committees to join in on the fun, but please note that if your shipping address is outside of Germany, ticket costs are €51 (an additional €5 is added to the ticket price to account for shipping costs).

To reserve your tickets, you must complete this registration form (Click Here to open the form). In order to receive the beer kits in time, you must RSVP by September 13, 2021. The tasting will be held on Zoom and we will send participants the meeting log-in information 48 hours before the event.

**Please remember that Democrats Abroad may only accept donations from U.S. citizens.**

In case you’re interested: we’re also hosting an online wine tasting on September 25th from 7-9pm CEST! For more information about the online wine tasting, click here.

An Oktoberfest Prize Draw will also take place throughout the two Oktoberfest events. Please check the DAG Events page for more information or contact Courtney Newman for more information.

  • Oktoberfest Celebration: Online Wine Tasting

If beer isn’t really your thing, but you still want to participate in Oktoberfest festivities, Democrats Abroad Germany has just the thing for you: an online wine tasting!

In celebration of Oktoberfest, DA Germany will gather online on Saturday, September 25 from 7-9pm CEST for a lovely wine tasting night hosted by DA Berlin’s Aimee M. Male.  To attend the event, we are requesting a €10 donation.

In order to participate in the tasting, you will need to bring your own bottle of wine.  Any wine will do - so grab your favorite or try something new with some of Aimee’s suggestions:

    • German Riesling (either labeled Trocken, or Kabinett Trocken; or Feinherb)
    • German Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir)
    • German Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc)
    • California Cabernet Sauvignon
    • California Zinfandel
    • California Chardonnay

    About Our Wine Expert

Originally from San Francisco, Aimee has worked in the wine world for more than 20 years — from selling wines for U.S. retail stores, to making wine in the south of France and scouting new winemaking talents in Europe to bring to consumers in the United States. Currently a marketing manager and buyer for a major U.S. wine importer and a diploma candidate with the Wine & Spirits Education Trust based in London, she has made it her personal and professional goal to help wine drinkers navigate the often unnecessarily complicated world of wine, through better understanding the mechanics of taste. By learning more about how and why we taste what we do in a glass of wine, Aimee believes anyone can be a wine “expert.” She has lived in Berlin with her partner since 2006.

The tasting will be held on Zoom and we will send participants the meeting log-in information 48 hours before the event.

In case you’re interested: we’re also hosting an online beer tasting on October 2nd from 7-9pm CEST!  For more information about the online beer tasting, click here.

    Write to your Representatives

If we want meaningful climate action, we must demand it from our representatives.  The best way to do that is to contact them.  Here is a pre-wrtten letter you can send to your representatives.  Be sure to add in a personal example, too!

21-Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge

    invite_Day_Racial_Equity_Habit_Building_Challenge_.png

Have you ever made a successful change in your life? Perhaps you wanted to exercise more, eat less, or change jobs? Think about the time and attention you dedicated to the process. A lot, right? Change is hard. Creating effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of power, privilege, supremacy, and leadership is like any lifestyle change. Setting our intentions and adjusting what we spend our time doing is essential. It’s all about building new habits. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting started. The good news is, there’s an abundance of resources just waiting to empower you to be a more effective player in the quest for equity and justice.

About the 21-Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge

    • For 21 days, do one action to further your understanding of power, privilege, supremacy, oppression, and equity
    • This plan includes suggestions for readings, podcasts, videos, observations, and ways to form and deepen community connections. Suggestions are in the following categories:

    READ

    LISTEN

    WATCH

    NOTICE

    CONNECT

    ENGAGE

    ACT

    REFLECT

    STAY INSPIRED

    TIPS FOR SUCCESS

    • Choose one activity per day to further your understanding of power, privilege, supremacy, oppression, and equity.
    • Diversify your habits by doing some of each.
    • Use the tracking chart provided here to stay on course. You can download the editable spreadsheet or a PDF for printing.
    • We think understanding white privilege and white supremacy is a powerful lens into the complexities of doing social justice work, so we’ve focused our resources on that specific issue.
