What are the benefits and drawbacks of incorporation for Americans living in Canada? How does one go about incorporating? What are the differences in the U.S. tax treatment of limited companies vs unlimited liability companies (ULCs)? In what ways is the application of passive foreign investment company (“PFIC”) different from controlled foreign corporation (“CFC”) status? These and other issues will be discussed, in what is sure to be a very informative afternoon dialogue! Meet Charmaine Ko and Dan Palmer of Polaris Tax Counsel, two seasoned tax lawyers who are well accustomed to helping Americans in Canada deal with some thorny tax situations.
